September travels
Month of September.
Left Padstow lunchtime 1st for Glastonbury, via horrible bus station Taunton and nice but quaint Wells. Saw cathedral and springs and climbed the Tor. Ate very bad pizza in Glastonbury but met interesting Italian girl called Adrianne in the best herb and alternative medicine centre.
Friday left Glastonbury for Ross cider festival. Bought lots of camping bits which have come in so useful. Had a great time with hem hem Shelley. Hitched from the cider festival to Ross for a long journey to Cambridge Sunday afternoon. Met Sallyann while in Ross in her Cafe, but I really have forgotten it's name. Getting on towards 50 but heavenly. Sent her a card from everywhere I've visited so far as she asked. Promised me a job for when I get back? We'll see?
Arrived in Cambridge in the evening of the 5th. Nice few days. Hung out with Katy until she left for Ayr and the our Susannah. Found one or two great places to hang out when in Cambridge again, including the fitzwilliam museum, clowns and saint maglunds
Left for Italy on 9th on ryan 'let us sell you everything you don't want and for so much more than you'd ever want to pay in reality for these items' air. Arrived in Trieste for amazing pizza, good cheese, good pancetta, good coffee, good wine, but 2 nights of over spending then decided to get out to Slovenia. Saturday, Sunday and Monday played out with Rene and the German's. Went for a solid hike to see the campsite in the next bay from Piran, but decided it was too expensive, was waiting to hear about working at hotel Bernardino, but decided I needed to get out of a very expensive country and didn't need work right yet... (I had tons of courage then. I've felt a little solitary since as I have been mostly on my own. It's the first time I've gone many days without a deep conversation in my life. I've had times when there was someone to chat with, usually around a beer, but mostly I've been totally by myself. The language barrier has been very difficult).
Got coach to Rovinj and found a cheap option in the campsite biobondi. Could've hung on for a few more days as i was in the campsite with a lad at York Uni on the last night, but the weather turned and I saw my first wild shipwrecking Adriatic so I decided to travel onwards. Got the coach to Pula from Rovinj. It rained as hard as I've ever seen it before in Pula. I saw the amphitheatre and forum, but I was so wet my guide map actually melted in my hands. I'd checked into crackden arts hostel earlier but only stayed one night as Pula didn't feel much. Got up at 5:45am for to catch the ferry to Zadar for 7am with an American GI Andrew from the hostel, who I had to cut out on in Zadar as had no time to spare to get bus to main station and onwards to Split: I didn't say bye. Arrived in Luka Vis late, last ferry, on 18th. Didn't really know what day it was on the 18th. That was why there was a karaoke on in the Pirate bar. Was tired slept well that night. Almost stayed on Vis until following Tuesday, but decided I was just hanging around without a purpose. So went to shore intending to go camping for a few days but the weather was inclement. Managed to find a cheap apartment for 3 nights before ferry/cruiser to Rijeka Sunday 26th. Now in tent since Monday. Not too much money left so not venturing far now. Have my coach back to Trieste for Saturday 12:20. I need a cheap option for Saturday night and not that ugly place I started in 'Ghega'.
