Hotel Meira

On the way with waves crashing and Amazona making me tearful: oh Roxy Music - that was probably too loud for the tranquility of the Caminho coming out of Viana, below the Santuário de Santa Luzia, and find my way again?! For the second day running I'd found bliss in the morning, but I just wish I could have it in the afternoon when I am just too fatigued to care for the cobble stones I bounced along without any consideration prior to lunch.

And after lunch I thought about catching a train rather than follow the litoral - along the decking and dunes.

And I saw only two other pilgrims, apart from the other one who was up with me around 6am in the cold damp albergue. Tom from Melbourne, Australia, who I briefly exchanged pleasantries with before I went to being in the 'now' surrounded by the glory of nature and just now, prior to the turn to Âncora, coming south from Spain a fraulein heading to Porto from Santiago. She'd only spent a night in Santiago, as it was too much for her after the Camino Frances... As she left with a Buen Camino I reminded her it Bom Caminho from now on! She reminded me how much of a silly place Santiago really is if you want my honest opinion?

Now I've gone from a good tired and cold pilgrim to bad refreshed and warm pilgrim. Hotel room 46€. Ouch. But I could walk no further. Double bed & Breakfast at 7:30pm. Bar, sauna and steam room available too.

Today was definitely brilliant in the morning, but then a tiring plod along the dunes, once more, after I'd come down off the ridge to find lunch - as Café de Cabanas prior on the turning right up passed Rio Afife was closed for the season. At 9€ for a pork, rice and potato meal, one bottle of Super Bock stout beer, a glass of Vinho Verde and a nice donut item to finish it was value for money at the Casino Afifense by the cross roads; but once my energy has gone I'm over and out?!?

Again. In my confusion I almost caught a train onwards to Caminha, but this is the last bit of sea/ocean to enjoy before heading up the Minho to Valença... Any justification for the expense! And with the mention of a bath I was sold. I've not washed myself at all since the bath I took at the flat on Friday, before I began the long journey to this bath here! If you take off a buffet style breakfast and the bath 46€ is a bargain in a 4* hotel - Hotel Meira!🤣😇 Clean pants, t-shirt and socks. Tomorrow I set off box fresh in that silent room on the 2nd floor overlooking the inviting, but freezing, piscina?
